MISSION IS YOUR SUCCESS

The Texas Association of Community Development
Corporations is a non-profit, 501 (c) 3 tax exempt organization
chartered in 1995. It is a trade association for Community Development
Corporations (CDCs), Community Development Financial Institutions
(CDFIs), and similar community-based non-profit organizations. These
CDCs and CDFIs have as their missions serving their respective community
through such activities as developing affordable housing for both home
ownership and rental occupancy, providing technical assistance and financing
to small businesses, establishing essential community facilities, providing
financial literacy training, and similar efforts to better the economic and
social conditions of underserved communities.
TACDC serves its members through training/capacity-building, education,
networking, mentoring, peer-to-peer learning, research, and the advocacy of
public policies beneficial to underserved communities.
TACDC is based in
Austin and has four full-time employees, staff contractors, and a interns
from some of the state's most prestigious institutions of higher education.

Steven A. Carriker - Executive Director
Steven Carriker,
TACDC Executive Director, is a graduate of the University of Texas and has a
long history of community Service. He is a former member of the Texas
Legislature, served as the State Director of USDA Rural Development, and
established a Community Development Financial Institution. |

Eduardo Magaloni - Director of Development & Training
Eduardo Magaloni, TACDC Director of Development & Training has a Masters of
Public Administration from the University of Texas in San Antonio, where he
received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. His experience includes
serving as the Development Coordinator at Housing and Community Services,
Inc., as Program Officer at the San Antonio Trust Foundation, and as an
Assistant to the Trustee of the Bankruptcy Court, Western District. |

Nicole Schwulera - Director of Membership Services & Office Manager
Nicole studied Social Science and International
Business in Hamburg, Germany. Prior to TACDC she worked as a Media Manager
for a publisher and broadcasting company.

Helen Nguyen - TACDC Marketing and Administration Intern, 2006-7
Helen Nguyen, TACDC Marketing and
Admin Intern, is a candidate for a University of Texas at Austin Bachelors
of Business Administration and Marketing. Since 2006,
Helen has contributed to TACDC in
assisting with general administrative support, various level of publication
maintenance, business research, and original graphic design for statewide
outreach. Her dedication to TACDC has
been absolutely outstanding, and we applaud all of her hard work.

Mini BIO:
Karen Juckett, TACDC Texas CED Lonestar Intern, 2007
Karen is pursuing a dual Master’s degree in Public Policy and Latin
American Studies at the University of Texas at Austin. Karen’s professional
interests include poverty reduction and domestic/international economic
development. During the summer of 2006, Karen interned in the Economic
Section at the U.S. Embassy in Managua, Nicaragua. From 2002 to 2005, she
worked at the Inter-American Foundation, a federal agency that supports
community development in Latin America and the Caribbean. Karen has a B.A.
in Foreign Affairs from the University of Virginia. |
